Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports

What is PBIS?

  • It is a process for creating safer, more effective schools by reinforcing positive behavior and preventing and addressing problem behavior.

  • It is implemented in three tiers

  • Tier 1 focuses on setting and teaching behavioral expectations in all areas of the school.

  • Tier 2 and 3 all educators to focus more closely on the needs of groups or individual students.

What are the PBIS behavior goals?

  • Reduce and eliminate disruptive behaviors.

  • Cultivate a school climate where all students know their expectations.

  • Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff.

  • Recognize and reward positive behaviors.
